We are looking for a hands-on Marketing Director to help make Starlings visible, talked about, and impossible to ignore.

The Role

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Drive demand

  • Execute campaigns

  • Sell ticketed experiences

  • Create momentum

  • Help Starlings spread through the city

This role sits at the intersection of growth marketing, experiential entertainment, live events, storytelling and culture

The Marketing Director will work closely with the founders, creative team, contractors, and collaborators to ensure Starlings consistently builds awareness, ticket sales, and audience excitement.

Core Goals

Success in this role means:

  • Creating strong demand for public and group experiences

  • Driving ticket sales through focused campaigns and partnerships

  • Building visible momentum and word-of-mouth around Starlings

  • Helping experiences feel culturally relevant, alive, and socially contagious

  • Turning every event into fuel for future growth

Responsibilities

Drive Ticket Sales & Attendance

Lead marketing efforts that increase attendance and demand for:

  • city-wide public experiences

  • group bookings and buyouts

  • special ticketed events

Support Starlings’ Group Sales Lead by:

  • developing marketing materials

  • refining offers and positioning

  • creating campaigns that support higher-value bookings

Execute Marketing Campaigns

Using the broader company strategy as a guide:

  • plan and execute campaigns

  • coordinate timelines and deliverables

  • oversee launch calendars

  • manage budgets efficiently

  • track results and improve performance over time

This is a highly executional role focused on getting campaigns into the world quickly.

Manage Contractors & External Partners

Identify, recommend, and manage contractors needed to execute campaigns and initiatives, which may include:

  • PR

  • social media

  • graphic design

  • copywriting

  • photography/video

  • influencers

  • web design

  • street teams or experiential activations

Ensure all work remains:

  • on-brand

  • coordinated

  • high-quality

  • and aligned with company goals

Amplify Momentum Through Content

Help ensure experiences generate:

  • strong social sharing

  • compelling content

  • repeat attendance

  • organic conversation

Work with contractors and collaborators to:

  • capture live experiences

  • identify memorable moments

  • distribute content consistently across channels

You do not need to personally create all content, but you must understand what resonates and help shape the direction.

Build Local Relationships & Visibility

Develop relationships with:

  • artists

  • performers

  • local organizations

  • hospitality and tourism partners

  • social groups and collaborators

Maintain an active presence within San Francisco’s entertainment, creative, and cultural communities so the company stays connected to what is happening locally.

Team & Collaboration

The Marketing Director will work closely with and report to the CEO and Chief Creative Officer.

This role collaborates closely with creative development, production, sales, contractors and agency partners.

The Marketing Director is expected to stay deeply informed about evolving experiences, audience feedback, new programming and changes within the Starlings story world.

Location

This role is based in San Francisco and requires significant in-person presence.
